The best Shopify themes under $200
The best Shopify themes under $200
A Shopify theme licence is a one off payment rather than a subscription, and the gap between the cheapest paid theme and the most expensive is about four hundred dollars. What that money buys is not obvious, and several themes under two hundred carry longer feature lists than themes at twice the price. This page is the ones worth looking at before spending more.
10 themes, every one of them inside this price band in the Shopify Theme Store. Nothing here was chosen by hand; the order is ours. Prices, satisfaction scores, feature lists and theme store ids are Shopify's own, read from each theme's page on 12 September 2026.
Short answer: Blum is the pick on the numbers, at 99 per cent, and Cello carries the highest score on the page. Whichever you choose, none of them shows a separate photograph per colour, because Shopify stores one image per variant. Rubik Variant Images, built by Craftshift, assigns a separate image set to every variant so the gallery filters instead. Free to install.
What to check before you buy
- A feature list that holds up against the expensive themes, which several of these do and a few very much do not.
- Colour swatches and swatch filters, the two features a cheap theme is most likely to have skipped.
- A review count big enough to trust, because a cheap theme with nine happy buyers tells you nothing.
- Active support, which is the thing that actually differs between a two hundred dollar theme and a four hundred dollar one.
- A demo store you can break, since at this price the demo is the only due diligence available.
The best Shopify themes under $200
The order is not an opinion. Each theme is placed on the lowest satisfaction rate its review count actually supports, so a theme at 100 per cent across twelve reviews sits below one at 96 per cent across two hundred. Each name links to its demo in the Shopify Theme Store.

Which one, by how big the catalogue is
- A small catalogue. Almost anything on this page is more theme than you need.
- A few hundred products. This is the size where a cheap theme either holds up or starts costing you.
- Thousands. Check the collection navigation carefully; it is the first thing a cheaper theme skimps on.
The apps worth adding to any of these themes
Craftshift builds 5 of the apps below, which is why they are here and why this is not a survey of the category. Viking Watermark & Anti Theft is not ours and its entry says whose it is. Ratings and review counts are read from each listing rather than typed in.
-
Rubik Variant Images
The app this site is about. Shopify keeps one featured image per variant, so every theme on this page shows the whole gallery whichever colour a shopper picks. This assigns a separate set of images, videos and 3D models to each variant and filters the gallery to the selection, and turns the picker into image, colour or pill swatches.
-
Rubik Combined Listings
The other shape of the same problem. When each colour is its own product rather than a variant, no gallery filter helps, because there is nothing to filter. That one links the products into a single swatch row instead, on the product page and under every product card.
-
CS Smart Bulk Image Upload
A colour range arrives as one shoot, not as single files. This uploads it straight from Google Drive or Dropbox rather than one image at a time through the Shopify admin.
-
CS Export Product Images
The reverse trip. Pulls product images back out in bulk, which is what a lookbook, a stockist pack or a marketplace feed needs and what the admin will not do.
-
CS Bulk Delete Products
For the end of a range. Removes a dropped line with its variants and its images together rather than one product at a time.
-
Viking Watermark & Anti Theft
Not ours. Built by Aegis, and here because a good product shoot is expensive and ends up on somebody else's listing quickly. It watermarks images in bulk and blocks right click saving.

Questions merchants ask
What is the best the best shopify themes under $200?
Blum, on the numbers. It holds 99 per cent positive across 259 reviews and its feature list runs to 48 entries. The order on this page is not a preference: every theme is placed on the lowest satisfaction rate its review count actually supports, so a theme at 100 per cent across twelve reviews sits below one at 96 per cent across two hundred.
Will any of these themes show a different photograph for each colour?
No, and neither will any other Shopify theme. Shopify stores one featured image against a variant, so a shopper who picks the second colour still sees a gallery containing every colour you sell. That is a platform limit rather than a theme one, which is why changing theme never fixes it. Rubik Variant Images assigns a separate image set to each variant and filters the gallery to the selection.
How much does a paid Shopify theme cost?
A one off licence rather than a subscription, and the paid themes on this page run from $120 to $170. That buys the theme for one store, permanently, including updates. Free themes cost nothing and are built and maintained by Shopify itself.
Where do the satisfaction scores come from?
From each theme's own page in the Shopify Theme Store, read on 12 September 2026. Shopify publishes the percentage of reviews that are positive along with the review count, and both are printed here next to the price and the theme store id so you can check any of them at source.
Can I change theme later without losing anything?
Products, orders and customers are untouched by a theme change; they live in the shop rather than in the theme. What has to be redone is the theme settings, the section layouts and the app embeds, which are per theme. Publishing a new theme with an app embed left switched off is the most common way a working storefront quietly stops working.
